General Maintenance Worker, National Infantry Museum Foundation
The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center is a world-class museum that chronicles the history of the American Infantry from its formation in 1775 to the present. It includes eight galleries, a Giant Screen Theatre, authentic World War II Company Street, outdoor monuments and memorials, a full-service restaurant, combat simulators and a gift store. It is operated by the National Infantry Museum Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Army.
The National Infantry Museum Foundation has an opening for a General Maintenance Worker.
General Maintenance workers agree to be flexible in their assignments, shifts, and days worked as the needs of the museum dictates.
General Maintenance workers will be required to work certain federal holidays, for which they will receive compensatory (alternate) paid days off.
A General Maintenance worker may be assigned to assist with housekeeping, floors, or assist with duties of other departments as needed and directed by their own department head.
Job description and responsibilities: Maintenance personnel routinely will be required to work independently, without supervision and to be proficient at a ‘tradesman’ level. Functions may include but are not limited to: Minor electrical, plumbing, painting, floor coverings, drywall, landscaping, event set-up and tear-down of stages, chairs, dance floors or other tasks as assigned. Maintenance personnel shall be required to demonstrate the ability to perform assigned tasks, and dedication to the mission of the museum and their personal assignments or areas of responsibility. Strict adherence to chain of command shall be demonstrated at all times.

* Ability to stand, walk, crawl, sit, or climb for extended periods of time.
* Ability to work on ladders and/or elevated platforms or walkways as needed.
* Ability to lift or reach above head level routinely.
* Exposure to severe weather such as heat, rain, snow, or ice for extended periods of time.
* Ability to daily or routinely lift 50 lbs. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. as needed.
* Ability to see, read and understand instructions, work orders, schematics etc. in the English language.
