A Heritage Walk Paver Dedication Ceremony will be held on Veterans Day on November 11 at 11am. Commemorative pavers purchased since the Memorial Day Dedication will be unveiled during this ceremony.
Activities scheduled for that day include:
9 a.m. – 1pm – Appreciating Sacrifice, a 4-hour mini-camp teaching children 5-11 the meaning and importance of Veterans Day and the sacrifices Soldiers make daily. $10 per camper. Call the Education Department at 706-685-5849 or register online.
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – World War II Company Street open for self-guided tours.
11 a.m. – Moment of silence observed.
11 a.m. – Paver Dedication Ceremony on Heritage Walk for commemorative pavers installed since Memorial Day. Guest speaker: BG Christopher Donahue, Commandant of the U.S. Army Infantry School.
12:30 p.m. – Local Boy Scouts will conduct an official flag retirement ceremony at the fire pit behind the museum.
The museum will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 11. There is no admission fee, however a $5 per person donation is requested. The Fife and Drum restaurant will be open for lunch. Giant Screen Theater documentaries will be shown throughout the afternoon beginning at 12pm at regular ticket prices.
