The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center hosts the Bride-to-Be Celebration every February to showcase the spaces we have available to rent for your wedding and reception. At this event, local wedding professionals turn the museum into a wedding wonderland. It allows them to show off their flowers, table settings, photography and décor. The goal is to make it easier for brides-to-be to see just how easily their dreams can come to life.
One lucky couple has the chance to win the Grand Prize of a Diamond Wedding Package worth almost $5,000. The package includes an evening wedding in the rotunda or museum lobby, a reception in the Grand Hall, plus $500 to put toward catering. Our 2016 winners, Kimya and Yancey Sanders, celebrated their dream wedding this month. Kimya is a Columbus native and her husband Yancey is originally from Montgomery, Alabama, where they met while working together at H&R Block. We had the opportunity to ask Kimya a few questions about her experience at the National Infantry Museum:
How did you feel when you found out you won the NIM Grand Prize Diamond Wedding Package? Shocked!! I don’t win anything. As I am sure, that is what most people say. But when I heard my name, I was in disbelief. I had to ask my Mama if they had just called my name. When she said YES… I got up and started jogging towards the stage.
What is your favorite thing about having your wedding at the National Infantry Museum? The National Infantry Museum is such a beautiful place. When we came to the Bride-to-Be Celebration, I knew it would be a dream to have it there. I didn’t know that I would have been the lucky one. I was so happy!
How has your experience been planning with our events team? It has been exceptional. I worked primarily with Keisha and Jennifer. They made themselves available at any moment I had a question or concern. The day I found out they were going to talk the entire wedding through with us, was the best day of all. I was trying to plan my own wedding and when they told me that, it was such a relief. Everything they said they would do, they did and more.
We wish Kimya and Yancey well as they start their new life together!
We look forward to hosting our next Bride-To-Be Celebration in February 2017.
From weddings to vow renewals, the museum’s Events Department can wow your guests with an unforgettable day. Brides love having their ceremony in the Rotunda, with the gorgeous architecture of the museum as the perfect backdrop. The museum can stay open after-hours for your guests to enjoy an exclusive private tour of the Last 100 Yards Ramp while the bridal party finishes their photos. Then, party the night away with a glamorous reception in the Grand Hall. Our new Courtyard opens this Fall for outdoor seating and events. Choose from more than a dozen room options, endless menu choices and our list of preferred vendors.
Will you say I DO to a Night at the Museum? For more information, contact the Events Department at 706-685-5809. To make even more fantastic memories, have you considered where to go on your hen and stag dos? A Prague stag do could start the celebrations off with a bang for example; making sure the fun starts from the very beginning.
Pretty cool. This is where my daughter was proposal took place.
