“The purpose of leadership boils down to one central reality: Human organizations produce extraordinary success where they create teams capable of heroic behavior.”
Meet Retired General Barry McCaffrey. General McCaffrey was a crucial leader in America’s Persian Gulf War triumph in 1991. At retirement in 1996 he was the most highly decorated serving General, having been awarded three Purple Heart medals for wounds received in his four combat tours – as well as twice awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation’s second highest award for valor. He also twice was awarded the Silver Star for valor.
Today, General McCaffrey is a longtime champion of the National Infantry Museum and Vice Chair of the museum’s National Advisory Board.
