“Remembering Our Fallen” Honors Georgians Killed Since 9/11
Museum is traveling show’s first stop in Georgia
Columbus, Georgia – October 4, 2013: Nearly 200 Georgians have died in service to their country since the terrorism attacks of September 11, 2001. They are being honored in a new traveling exhibit that will debut at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 2 p.m.
Several hundred family members and friends of those who were killed in Iraq or Afghanistan are expected to attend the statewide dedication of the exhibit in Columbus. They will be given an early opportunity to view the display before a ceremony at 2 p.m. featuring guest speaker Maneuver Center of Excellence Armor School Commandant COL Leopoldo Quintas. The display will then be open to the public for two weeks.
Remembering Our Fallen consists of photographs of each of the honored service members. The memorial was conceived by a husband and wife team from Nebraska “to honor and remember the fallen, remind others of the tremendous sacrifices made by some, and hopefully, help families and friends in their grief.” The first of these state exhibits was created for Nebraska in 2010. Georgia is the 11th state to have an exhibit dedicated to its fallen heroes.
The exhibit will remain at the National Infantry Museum through November 2, 2013, at which time it will be sent to the Terminal Station in Macon, Georgia. Future dates in other Georgia cities can be found at www.rememberingourfallen.org.

If you are visiting the museum on Sunday, please be aware that multimedia will be silenced from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. All guests are encouraged to join the dedication ceremony in the Grand Hall at 2:00 p.m. Museum displays will resume as normal following this special event.
