The IMAX Theatre at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center will premiere The Dark Knight Rises: The IMAX Experience on the date of its national release, July 20, 2012. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday, June 29. The first show is scheduled for just after midnight on Thursday, July 19 (12:01 a.m. July 20).
The Dark Knight Rises is the much-anticipated epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s popular Batman trilogy. Christian Bale leads the all-star cast, which also includes Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.
The Dark Knight Rises: The IMAX Experience will feature more than an hour of footage filmed with IMAX cameras. The previous film in the trilogy contained just 40 minutes of the large-format film. Director Christopher Nolan has embraced IMAX photography because of its unique ability to immerse viewers into the film. The National Infantry Museum’s IMAX screen is 70 feet wide and 5 stories high.
The IMAX release will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make you feel as if you are in the movie.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the box office in the museum lobby, or by calling 706-685-2622 beginning Friday, June 30, during museum operating hours. Ticket prices will be: $10 for adults; $9 for students, military and seniors; and $8 for children 4-12. Stay tuned to the National Infantry Museum’s website (www.nationalinfantrymuseum.com) and Facebook page (National Infantry Museum) for updates.
Is there a schedule out for future showings of The Dark Knight Rises?
Yes, the schedule for The Dark Knight Rises is posted on our calendar at: http://bit.ly/JLWCzf.
Show times start on 12:01am July 20. We hope to see you at Patriot Park IMAX for the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises!
Can you put up a link to Share The Dark Knight Rises at the IMAX on facebook?
Lynn Norris, yes, we will continue to put links to The Dark Knight Rises at Patriot Park IMAX on our Facebook. The link to our Facebook is http://www.facebook.com/nationalinfantrymuseum.
So you will use a 70mm real IMAX projector for The Dark Knight Rises, or a digital projector? Really confused.
We most definitely will be projecting The Dark Knight Rises on a 70mm IMAX projector! Our theater HAS a digital projector, but it’s used mostly for business meetings, presentations and DVD screenings.
Great news! I’m happy now. Thanks!
I am so glad that this local Imax is finally being used for new releases. I hope this continues. Showing old movies with this technology is a waste of resources. It would be great so that one would not have to travel a great distance to see movies in IMAX. Good Job!
Thank you! We are excited to have The Dark Knight Rises at Patriot Park IMAX! Thank you for your support. We hope with the support of fans like you, we can continue to bring new films into our IMAX Theatre!
The link that you posted above with the showings listed only one show time on Friday the 20th at 12:01 am. Are there not any other show times for Friday?
Yes, show times for The Dark Knight Rises are daily at 11:00, 2:15, 5:30, and 9:00.
I just found out that this is a 15/70mm IMAX theater, and was overjoyed to find out you are starting to show ‘hollywood’ feature films. I’ve been a regular at the Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee, but my understanding is that they are using the 2K digital projectors. Although we love that theater, I believe we will be heading your way soon to see the 15/70mm difference since we live about the same distance away. Your screens widths are only 2 feet different, so it will be a great format comparison. I really wish we could make it up there for TDKR, but we will probably end up seeing that in Destin’s IMAX while vacationing, so hopefully we’ll be seeing the Hobbit on your screen in November. Looking forward to it!
Thank you! We often call our IMAX theatre at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center the best-kept secret! We use true 15/70mm film and were very proud to show The Dark Knight Rises on the national release date! We hope that we can snatch the Hobbit too. We shall see! Thank you for your support. As always, the more support we have from visitors, the better Patriot Park IMAX can serve you.
Applications for employment will be accepted after the meeting. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes. For additional information, contact IMAX and Attractions Director Mark Balsinger at mbalsinger@nationalinfantryfoundation.org or 706-653-9234.
