Museum Launches New NIM SIM Experience

The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center’s NIM SIM Combat Simulator attraction has been overhauled to provide a brand new experience to museum visitors.

As you enter the Virtual Army Experience, you’ll be entering a walled compound in a simulated theater of operations. You’ll take your position at one of four weapons stations with the mission of providing overwatch support fire for a convoy of Humvees crossing enemy lines to rescue humanitarian aid workers. Your battle buddies will take their position at one of five weapons inside a real Humvee.

Visitors who’ve tried the combat simulators before will find that the new Overwatch mission offers many more targets to shoot at than the replica helicopter experience offered. The grand reopening of the attraction is Friday, June 21.

The museum’s second simulator attraction is the EST2000 Rifle Range, which is the same simulation the Army uses to train its Soldiers. In it, users fire at pop-up targets with an M4A1 trainer from a standing position.

Museum visitors can take aim in either the Rifle Range or the Virtual Army Experience for $10 per session. Any two sessions cost $15; three sessions cost $20. The simulators are open during the following hours:
